Alcott is a magnet cluster school with special emphasis on Literature and Writing. The program teaches students to become critical readers, with a strengthened capacity for interpreting and responding to written materials in addition to becoming skilled at writing and using it creatively and effectively to communicate. We have implemented the CPS' Office of Academic Enhancement's initiative for the Literature and Writing program, which includes the Writer's Workshop (specifically Lucy Calkins), the Novel Studies Series Program, and the International Education and Resource Network, in addition to other academic enrichment opportunities. |
