At Alcott School, we believe strongly in the power of the arts to educate -- to train the intellect to flex, remain unencumbered by preconception, and seek innovative solutions. When students engage in creating works of art, they exercise problem-solving and critical thinking skills and make connections to all academic areas. Overall, our goal is to present arts experiences that raise the bar on originality and invention, while exposing students to works of art, both past and contemporary. We challenge students to develop sophisticated approaches to determining quality in the arts, and gain an understanding of the rigorous intellectual and emotional effort that goes in to its creation.
